Social Justice and Diversity Coalition

The Social Justice and Diversity Coalition (SJDC) is an alliance of MCHD staff, parents, and teachers who share an interest in promoting values of inclusion and equality in our community. The SJDC meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday from 6-7 pm to discuss issues of social justice as they relate to our community and to plan initiatives that encourage diversity and awareness across our campuses.

We are a budding organization that welcomes all voices. To join us at our next meeting, please contact us by email.

Our Initiatives

Formed in 2020, the SJDC has already planned and supported several initiatives within the MCHD community:

  • Spring 2021 The Diversity Book Drive seeks to broaden the libraries of all MCHD classrooms to include more titles that represent BIPOC, LGBTQ, and people with disabilities. To participate in the Book Drive through May 16, 2021, please visit the SJDC page on the Tattered Cover Book Store site.
  • February and March 2021 Members compiled and shared a digest of black leaders and women pioneers during Black History and Women’s History Months.
  • December 2020 Members researched and gave presentations on global winter celebrations.
