Lead Teacher
My Montessori journey began in 1994, when I had the opportunity to substitute in an Early Childhood classroom at a private school in Memphis, Tennessee. I was so impressed with how independent and capable those young children were, that it inspired me to learn all I could about this unique way of learning! I completed my 3-6 Montessori teacher training right away, and then moved out West, where I taught for twelve years in Golden. While there, I also embarked upon my Lower Elementary certification, which I acquired at the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies here in Boulder. After a short time teaching in Summit County, I relocated yet again to Key West, Florida, where I led the Lower Elementary program at the county’s first public charter Montessori school for seven years. In 2016, my son and I returned to Colorado and I joined MCHD to serve as the Elementary Afternoon Coordinator at Stapleton, and substitute at all three campuses. In 2017, I joined our Leadership Team as a Campus Director, and have been leading and supporting the success of the Central Park campus. I am constantly amazed by the work the children of all ages accomplish, and how the Montessori educational philosophy inspires us all to follow our passions and advocate for ourselves as life-long learners.
