Sarah Mohagen
Assistant Head of School & Director of Admissions
My name is Sarah Mohagen. I am the Assistant Executive Director at Montessori Children’s House of Denver and have worked at MCHD since 2007, where I started as an assistant in the Main Level Primary classroom. While I already had a bachelors in elementary education from the University of Northern Colorado, I had very little understanding of Montessori education at that time. I had been searching for a school that felt right and matched what I believed education should do for children.
I felt at home as soon as I walked in the door at MCHD. After a short amount of time, I fell in love with the Montessori Philosophy and started working towards my Primary certification. I received my Primary diploma from the North American Montessori Center in 2008. Then I received my Montessori Elementary credential and started attending the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies in 2009. When MCHD added an Upper Elementary classroom in 2009, I became the lead teacher and helped continue our elementary program through 6th grade. I received my Montessori Elementary 1 and 2 credential in 2010. In the fall of 2013, I moved into a leadership position as the Assistant Executive Director (AED) to head up the admissions department after I had my first child.
As the AED, I get to help families find a place for their children by giving individualized tours to families and explaining our educational philosophy. I also oversee learner outcomes by collaborating with the leadership team and the teachers on curriculum and assessments.
Montessori Children’s House of Denver has been a wonderful place for me to learn and grow in my educational journey. I love working with the amazing leadership team, staff, families and students at MCHD. The supportive loving, community keeps me happy and it’s the reason I come to work each day. My favorite part of my day is making connections and building relationships with incoming families. I love to help them discover how a Montessori education can make a difference in their entire family’s life.
