The Montessori Children’s House of Denver
Montessori School
The Montessori Children’s House of Denver is a private preschool and elementary school that was established in 1991 and is accredited by NCA-NASI. MCHD’s curriculum emphasizes science, art, math, reading, geography, cultural studies, environmental awareness, nature study and peace education in a stimulating and nurturing environment where all children can thrive. Our first campus at 1467 Birch Street (Bellevue-Hale) occupies a beautiful brick house that was once an early-Denver farmhouse. MCHD’s four campuses in Denver’s Stapleton, Park Hill, Mayfair and Hilltop neighborhoods provide comprehensive education to toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary students in their communities.

“The Montessori method is an aid to life at all stages of development.”

MCHD is an award-winning, accredited school with a commitment to encourage and support individual growth and development for your child. We maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere that embodies the established and well recognized Montessori principles of respect for self, for others and for the environment. With a strong commitment to assist your child in developing a strong academic foundation, high self-esteem and an inner love of learning, we at MCHD give emphasis to education, personal responsibility, peace, and respect for nature while also celebrating diversity of cultures.
Through the Montessori Children’s House of Denver, our students are encouraged and motivated to learn and make their own decisions while also having a healthy awareness of considering the needs of others when making those decisions. The MCHD educational process is not just a school, it is an investment in the future of your child continuing well beyond graduation and paving the pathway to future success for them in the real world.
At MCHD, we realize that the enrollment of your child in a private educational program is an important decision and takes an investment from your family in your child’s future and at the Montessori Children’s House of Denver, we take pride in caring for the physical, emotional and educational needs of your child in an environment that is both safe and loving.
The toddler programs at MCHD provide a solid foundation that establishes a well-defined path for your child’s educational and social journey while accentuating the innate joy that children have for learning while encouraging independence, coordination of movement, language, and a sense of order and social development.
As your child progresses through Preschool and Kindergarten, our teachers work hard to identify individual learning styles and encourage each child to explore their own strengths. This allows students to move freely throughout our carefully and thoughtfully prepared environment which has been purposely created to maximize your child’s development in the following five key areas: Practical Life, Cultural, Sensorial, Math and Language.
Moving into Lower and Upper Elementary Programs, our Montessori Elementary education uncovers your child’s potential while continuing in a mixed age learning environment. The fields of study in our elementary program are fully integrated to stimulate curiosity and to help students move from concrete materials to abstract ideas. This, in combination with our teachers’ specialized training and intimate knowledge of each child’s learning style and personality assures a rich learning experience that produces highly motivated learners. This continues on at the middle school level at The Secondary Academy, an independent middle school affiliated with MCHD.
At the Montessori Children’s House of Denver, we believe that reaching a high level of learning does not come from enforcing a strict regimen but instead is the result of astute teacher observation, guidance and collaboration along with providing a carefully prepared learning environment that nurtures, supports and inspires your child’s innate desire to learn.
